This 5-week course uniquely combines the teachings of Nobel Prize winner Professor Daniel Kahneman & neuroscientist Dr. Barbara Oakley (amongst others) to create strategies, techniques & practices that will help you, as an English learner, to improve your reading skills through brain training. It will advance your academic English, your fluency and your ability to succeed in university, as you will gain the required skills to be independent learner.

In this course, you will learn how to:

- Use advanced strategies to increase your academic reading ability, memory & English fluency

- Use proven techniques to build your neural connections to increase your learning

- Apply these techniques to achieve a high score in English exams (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge)

- Increase your understanding of reading passages, articles & research papers

- Increase your reading speed

- Identify the main ideas in texts

- Find the key information in articles & solve problems quickly

- Increase your academic vocabulary & enhance your memory

- Correct the errors that you have been making & create your own effective reading techniques

I'm a University Lecturer, specialising in academic English, and English for specialist subjects (Science & Engineering) with a Teaching Diploma & a Master's Degree in Science. For over 12 years, I have been designing, coordinating & teaching English & Science courses to international students. I have designed courses for leading English language schools in Cambridge & Oxford, as well as Trinity College, Dublin. (Courses are listed below)

When does the course start and finish?
The course is 5 weeks in duration and lectures & activities are uploaded on specific days. New lectures are uploaded on Tuesdays & Thursdays with new reading tasks on Wednesdays & Mondays. You will also be invited to join live lessons with the course instructor, Niamh Kelly, on Saturdays where you can ask specific questions about the course & improving your skills.
